Treating it gently — and avoiding anything that could inflame or over-stimulate it — gives your skin the calmest possible environment to recover, and helps you feel comfortable while it does. Think of the next two weeks as the "settle and soothe" phase.

The first 48 hours: keep it simple and gentle

Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and your fingertips — no rubbing or pressure. A mild cleanser such as micellar biphasic is ideal.
Keep skin hydrated and comfortable with a simple, soothing routine.
Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated, and avoid sleeping face-down.
